How long does flooring installation take?

A single average-sized room typically takes 1 day. A full home (3–4 bedrooms plus living areas) usually takes 3–5 days depending on the product, subfloor condition and whether old flooring needs removing first.

Do I need to move out during installation?

Most homeowners stay in the home, though access to the rooms being floored will be restricted while work is underway and for a short curing period afterwards. For full-home jobs, we’ll talk you through a room-by-room sequence to minimise disruption.

What subfloor preparation is usually required?

This depends on the existing subfloor. Concrete slabs may need moisture testing and levelling compound; timber subfloors may need squeaky boards secured or uneven sections sanded. Subfloor prep is one of the most common causes of quote variation between companies.

Do I need to remove furniture before installation begins?

Rooms need to be cleared of furniture, rugs and breakables before installers arrive. Furniture removal and replacement can often be arranged as part of the job — ask your consultant to include this in your quote if you’d like it handled for you.

Will installation set off dust or fumes in my home?

Timber and hybrid flooring installation generates some dust from cutting and sanding, though modern engineered and hybrid products create far less than sanding solid timber in place. Adhesives used are generally low-VOC; ventilate the area during and after installation.

How soon can I walk on new flooring after installation?

Hybrid and laminate floors are typically walkable within hours. Glued-down engineered or solid timber floors usually need 24–48 hours before furniture goes back and normal foot traffic resumes, to allow adhesives to properly cure
